This time next month…

2014-07-08

I have been so poor at updating!

However I am delighted to say that this time next month not only will bumble bee be here but she is arriving with my mum, dad and brother! I am so excited to see the 3 most important people in my life.

I won’t have laid eyes on bumble bee in 8 months – won’t have held her hand- won’t have hugged her- wont seen those beautiful hazel eyes! To say im nervous is an understatement- I feel like my travels will truly begin when the love of my life joins me! 🙂 I miss you so much baby.

My folks and brother are here for 3 weeks- departing Sydney on 25th August. After that the campervan east coast adventures begins! Having settle well in Sydney and embraced working in city and living in Bondi- im very nervous my nice little life will suddenly be us and the open road- scared and eager for it to begin!

Bumble Bee- knows all to well the iconic story her granny Kathleen tells over and over- ‘ we were eating oysters and drinking champagne looking over the river Seine’ a family story shared again and again when she reflects on pastimes with her late husband. A story Bumblebee and I never get sick of listening too. We too want memories like this to tell our grandchildren- Australia 2014/2015 will the beginning of our travels. We have so much of our beloved Ireland to do, many nooks in Europe to explore and the USA (bumblebee has been lucky enough to go twice) I however haven’t yet see America. This adventure will be the making of us- as a couple, as friends and as life partners. Being apart has been difficult-I guess the old philosopher who said ‘ good things come to those to wait’ and by god we have waited to see each other and embark on this journey.

I must say aside from her looking after me, bedtime snuggles, making me laugh and going on little adventures with her- I cannot wait until bumblebee gets settle and gets her cook on- I have eaten in some outstanding places during my time in Sydney and cooked a fair bit of delicious cuisine- but noting puts a patch on my bumblebees cooking! This girl is not only a fantastic cook- she tries new things- develops intense simple rustic flavours! She will revel in the new ingredient and no doubt get inspiration from the wealth of Asian influences everywhere in Sydney! I have no doubt her repertoire of recipes will expand rapidly!

As a rough idea of what we plan to do once we secure our camper van- these are the hotspots I hope to look back on and smile:
Coffs Harbour
Byron Bay
Gold Coast
Noosa/Fraser
Brisbane
Whitsundays
Cairns

Then onto farm to earn second year visa :
FarmWork/ Melbourne work/ NZ/Thailand

Over and out for now

The day the dream became a reality

14/05/2014

I will never forget this day… my girlfriend has book her flight Australia bound and arrives in August!

I am so happy and even more shocked!

From now until August I am going to have to get my plan on, We plan to head up the East Coast for some travelling and do a little farm work so that I can get my second year visa!

I feel like my time in Australia will really start come August- being here without bumblebee has been bitter sweet. Whilst i have became much more independent and learnt to cook, when i have done something memorable or went somewhere spectacular, i have had this pang of oh bumblebee would be in her element.

I am off to New Zealand next weekend (North Island) for a spot of touristy shizzle and a bungee jump would you believe!  I hope this is the last new thing I experience alone.

The thought of bumblebee and I driving up the coast with the windows down, the sun shining and nothing but road infront of us- make me shiver with excitement!

Bumble bee you have made my day, week, month, year! I love you from the bottom of my heart and simply can’t wait to see your week face at the airport! We will have an adventure we will never forget- stories we will one day tell our children.

My soul mate, my best friend and now my travel buddy

I love you- now and always

Easter Activities!

2014.04.17

Yay! Last day of work before 4 whole days off!

I have planned to explore in and around my new area!  I have moved to Bondi and joined the rest of the Irish population in Sydney!

Tonight I am going to try some Asian Tapas (www.mamasan.com.au) review will follow!

I really wish Bumblebee was joining- instead she’s gearing up for Easter Irish style! ❤

My two housemates are joining me- I will ask their honest opinions for the review on food and drinks- both are self proclaimed foodies!

Also expect reviews on paddle boarding and taking a boat at Rose Bay very soon!

Welcome

2014.04.16- Greetings from the Flying Wasp

Today I have entered the world of blogging!  I am living and working in Sydney and my girlfriend is back home, in Belfast.  I had considered blogging about restaurants, bars and quirky food a while ago when in Belfast as my girlfriend (for the purposes of this blog Bumblebee) and I really enjoy eating out and trying out new places.  A combination of missing my bumblebee and constantly embarking on new things made me think I should blog about my time in Australia, making note of all the wonderful things I am doing and to show my girlfriend when I come home- so she can see that she was never far from my thoughts.

The majority of what you will find me blogging about is food, drinks, restaurants, bars and the odd crazy activity!

Bumblebee: I hope when you eventually read this you smile, being apart is so hard and when I finally show you this we will be on the sofa with a glass of tempranillo and a Yankee candle lit giggling about my atrocious spelling and grammar. I love you.
